The primary developmental task of an infant is to gain trust in the world around him/her. This happens when parents and caregivers are responsive to the needs of the infant in a prompt and caring manner. Our infant program reflects the principles of Magda Gerber who identified the term primary caregiver in the context of a quality early childhood program.

Upon enrolling in our infant program, each family is introduced to the staff person who will be their primary caregiver. The primary caregiver will become the expert on her group of children and will be the parents primary contact when questions or concerns arise. Each primary caregiver is assigned 3-5 children at any one time.

• Individual schedules are followed based upon child's needs
• Formula, infant cereals and foods are provided
• Each infant has their own crib and sleeping essentials
• Parents provide the center with diapers, diaper wipes and other essential supplies specific to the needs of their infant.

What is considered curriculum for an infant program?

• Teaching sign language as a means of communication
• Daily self-help skills like dressing and feeding
• Daily reading of stories to encourage language
• Music and movement activities
• Non-mobile infants are provided tummy time
  throughout the day to develop back and neck
  muscles and eventually crawling
• Lots of nurturing hugs and loving, appropriate touch
