This preschool option offers a quality preschool experience for children on a daily basis. Our morning and afternoon sessions provide a concentrated curriculum in a shorter time frame than the all day child care option.

Session 1 is for children ages 3 to 5 years of age two mornings each week. The monthly tuition is $80.

Session 2 is for children 4-5 years of age who will enroll in Kindergarten the following fall school year. It is offered three afternoons each week for a longer time. The monthly tuition is $140.

The primary developmental task of preschoolers is to learn social skills and the opportunity to develop kindergarten readiness skills. Our preschool program encourages children to experience new ideas, share their own ideas and explore the world around them. In developing a curriculum for preschool, we have incorporated ideas from Reggio Emilia and the Creative Curriculum.

What is included in the curriculum for a preschool program?

• Daily reading of stories and other literacy activities to encourage the joy and wonder of language, both written and spoken
• Music and movement activities
• Simple science experiments
• Introduction of math concepts
• Block play and daily living (housekeeping, dress-up)
• Simple words and phrases in Spanish
• Sensory experiences (sand, water, playdough)
• Creative arts through the use of many different mediums
• Focused activities in fitness and nutrition
• Regular Chapel Time with the Vinje pastoral staff
• Kindergarten readiness skills such as cutting, writing, number and letter recognition, counting and sorting
• Special events and field trips
