Vinje Choir – for post-high school singers

• Rehearsals are Wednesdays from 7:15 to 8:45 PM in the choir room
• During Lent rehearsals are held Wednesdays from 7:45 to 9:15 PM
• First rehearsal for fall is September 3, 2008
• Participates in worship approximately three weeks per month, usually at the 8:30 service, as well as special events
• Music represents an eclectic mix of “classic” Lutheran choral works, gospel, world music, and new favorites
• New members are always welcome, please speak with John Jahr if you have interest

JuBELLation – adult Handbell Choir

• If singing isn’t your forte, try ringing handbells
  Practices are Wednesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 PM in the sanctuary
• We ring 4 octaves of Schulmerich handbells and 3 octaves of Suzuki Choir Chimes
• Participates monthly at worship services (alternating service times)
• Directed by Barb Youngquist

Tapestry – Adult contemporary choir

• This group of musicians provides music in a more contemporary fashion, utilizing instruments, tight four part harmonies, in a variety of styles
• Tapestry leads contemporary worship one Sunday per month and also provides anthems throughout the church year
• New members are always welcome, please speak with John Jahr if you have interest

Worship Leading Teams – enhancing the people’s song

• Three teams with the very clever names of Team 1, Team 2, and (you guessed it) Team 3 lead congregational singing for our 10:45 contemporary service
• Each group has its own special flavor, but utilizes drums, keyboards, guitar, bass, and other rhythm instruments
• Each group sets own rehearsal schedule. If you have interest, please speak with John Jahr and he will direct you to an appropriate team leader

Requiem Choir – for funeral services

• Faithful group of singers providing music during funeral services
• Members are alerted via postcard when a funeral is scheduled
• Choir prepares prior to the service and enhances the congregation’s song; choir may also provide an anthem during the service.
• If you would like to participate in this group, please visit with John Jahr.

Additional Music Opportunities

• Provide special music (vocal, instrumental, duet, small group) for worship
• Play a musical instrument during a choir anthem or hymn
• Join an instrumental ensemble for special services (Reformation, Thanksgiving, Christmas, Easter, other possibilities)
• Join the Vinje Choir for a “season”
• “Summer Praise” song leaders for outdoor summertime courtyard worship

Shalom Singers – for Grades 9-12

• Wednesdays, 6:00 PM in the Vinje Choir Room
• Rehearsals begin Wednesday, Sept. 10

Nova Voices – for Grades 7 & 8

• Wednesdays, 5:25 PM in the Vinje Choir Room
