Please join us for our congregational meeting immediately following worship on November 20. As we consider two important resolutions it is important for us to have Vinje members present for this very short meeting. If legal statutes and parliamentary procedure aren’t enough to get you excited about this day, we promise to have donuts after the meeting.
At that meeting we will act on the council’s recommendation to form a new nonprofit LLC to operate Loving Arms and our childcare ministries. Vinje has experienced great success and growth as we strive to address the childcare crisis that exists in Kandiyohi County. We are thrilled to be able to care for children and teach them about the love that Jesus has for them. In order to provide greater legal protection and engage in best HR practices it is recommended that Vinje for and LLC for this essential ministry of our congregation.
We will consider the council’s recommendation to change how Vinje is legally organized under the laws of the state of Minnesota. Vinje is currently organized as a religious corporation under Chapter 315 of the Minnesota Statutes. That law was enacted in the 1800’s and has changed little since that time. A more modern and efficient way to organize a church is as a non-profit corporation under Chapter 317A of the Minnesota Statutes.
